The definition of Acro Yoga
Acro yoga is a physical practice that combines acrobatics, yoga, and therapeutic techniques. It involves a combination of partner-based acrobatics, yoga poses, and elements of Thai massage. Acro yoga focuses on collaboration, trust, communication, and connection between partners.
In acro yoga, two or more people work together to create dynamic poses and sequences. One person typically acts as the base, providing stability and support, while another person serves as the flyer, performing various poses elevated off the ground. The base and flyer work in harmony, relying on clear communication, strength, balance, and coordination to execute the movements.
Acro yoga incorporates elements of traditional yoga, such as breath awareness, mindfulness, and body alignment. It often includes yoga poses such as inversions, balances, backbends, and stretches. The practice also emphasizes the therapeutic aspect, with partners engaging in assisted stretching, massage, and therapeutic flying techniques to release tension, improve flexibility, and promote relaxation.
Acro yoga can be practiced by people of various fitness levels and body types. It offers physical benefits such as strength-building, flexibility, improved balance, and increased body awareness. Additionally, acro yoga fosters a sense of community, trust, and playfulness as participants support and uplift each other.
It’s important to note that Acro-Yoga requires proper training, guidance, and a focus on safety. Learning from qualified instructors, practicing with spotters, and progressing at a comfortable pace are essential to minimize the risk of injury and ensure a positive experience in acro yoga.
We are offering to the community the Therapeutic Approach :
Definition of Therapeutic Acro-Yoga
Therapeutic Acro-Yoga is a specialized branch of acro yoga that focuses on the healing and therapeutic benefits of the practice. It combines the principles of acrobatics, yoga, and therapeutic techniques to promote physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
The practice involves skilled touch, conscious communication, and a deep sense of trust between partners. The base provides a stable foundation and utilizes their body and hands to offer therapeutic touch and support, while the flyer receives the benefits of passive stretching, gentle massage, and the release of physical and energetic blockages.
Therapeutic Acro-Yoga can help improve circulation, joint mobility, and flexibility. It may also relieve muscle tension, reduce stress, and promote relaxation. The practice aims to restore balance and harmony to the body, mind, and spirit by addressing physical discomfort and promoting emotional well-being.
Our Therapeutic Acro-Yoga Classes
In our classes of 1:30 hour we combine Partner Yoga, Therapeutic Acro Yoga and Shiatsu Massage.
In our flows, each person takes on a specific role: one person acts as the base or support, while the other person assumes the position of the giver or recipient. The base provides stability, strength, and a foundation for the giver to explore and deepen their poses with the assistance and support of their partner.
- 30 MINUTES : PARTNER YOGA
Partner yoga often involves synchronized movements, counterbalancing, and reciprocal stretching. It can include a variety of yoga poses modified for two people, such as back-to-back poses, standing poses with connected bodies, partner-assisted stretches, and even acrobatic or inverted postures. The practice may also incorporate partner breathing exercises and meditation techniques to cultivate harmony and connection.
- 30 MINUTES : ACRO – YOGA
Therapeutic Acro-Yoga utilizes the collaborative and supportive nature of acro yoga to provide a therapeutic experience for both the base and the flyer. It often incorporates elements of Thai massage, partner stretching, and restorative yoga to enhance relaxation, release tension, and increase mobility.
- 30 MINUTES : SHIATSU MASSAGE
One of the person that flyed the most in the Acro Yoga Part gives a massage to the previous Base.
In this class you get the chance to have a taste of these 3 disciplines. We warm up the body with a Partner Yoga Flow, to then come to the therapeutic Acro-Yoga Posture and we finish with some relaxing massage.
